Over five generations of growing - that's the
enduring legacy of Platt's Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa. Firmly rooted in the Cedar
Valley, you can depend on this highly regarded nursery and landscaping
business that traces its roots back to 1856.
In 1986, Dean Platt, who moved the business to
Waterloo in 1944, said, "In our profession, beautification is what we sell all our
lives." And you see it in everything Platt's offers to it's customers.
Dean Platt and his brother Lloyd purchased their
father's interest in the family business, moving it to Waterloo from Oelwein and beginning
a true success story among nurserymen in the Midwest.
Today, the Platt growing center spans nearly 50
acres, housing a multitude of fields and greenhouses, as well as a retail outlet where John Deere, Toro and Echo lawn and garden equipment is sold and
serviced. The company continues to progress with Richard (Dick) Platt carrying on the
tradition of his father and family. Today, Platt's Inc., is one of the most respected, and
sought after, sources for high quality nursery, gardening and landscaping materials,
plantings and equipment.
The retail equipment center handles John Deere consumer products, Toro Proline, Toro walk
behind mowers and snow equipment, Echo trimmers, Toro hand held electrical equipment and John Deere collectibles and memorabilia
of all types (see our special web location for these items!)
